WebOS phone without keyboard spotted in the wild | VentureBeat

A keyboard-less phone — similar in form factor to the iPhone and HTC EVO — running Palm’s WebOS mobile operating system has been spotted in the wild, according to precentral.net.

The phone looks like it is about as big as the Pre 3, the latest version of the Pre lineup that features Palm’s WebOS software. Hewlett-Packard has taken over developing and manufacturing the Pre lineup after it announced it would buy palm for $1.2 billion. The company unveiled a new lineup of smartphones — the Veer and the Pre 3 — along with a WebOS powered tablet. But a phone packing a form-factor similar to the iPhone and lacking a keyboard was absent from the launch.

AFP: US forecasters predict busy 2011 hurricane season

US forecasters predict busy 2011 hurricane season

(AFP) – 2 hours ago

MIAMI — Last year's record hurricane season will be followed by another unusually busy one, with 16 named storms expected this year, US weather forecasters predicted on Wednesday.

Forecasters at Colorado State University are predicting that nine of the named storms that form in the Atlantic will develop into hurricanes.

"We expect that anomalously warm tropical Atlantic sea surface temperatures combined with neutral tropical Pacific sea surface temperatures will contribute to an active season," said Phil Klotzbach of CSU's Tropical Meteorology Project.

Weather-watchers at CSU said the unusually busy hurricane activity expected this year, like last year's record storm season, is caused by the arrival of La Nina, the atmospheric force that promotes hurricane formation.

La Nina is associated with cooler than normal waters in the equatorial Pacific Ocean.

The 2010 Atlantic storm season was the third busiest on record, with 19 named tropical storms over the Americas and the Caribbean during the June 1 through November 30 season, 12 of which became hurricanes.

Last year's hurricanes contributed to epic flooding and mudslides throughout Central and South America, causing massive damage and extensive loss of life.

Nigeria further postpones elections over problems

Nigeria's electoral commission says the country's legislative vote has been further postponed, a move that will also delay other polls in the oil-rich nation.

Nigeria pushed back its National Assembly elections to Saturday following a previous postponement over problems. The Independent National Electoral Commission made the announcement late Sunday.

The election was to be held Monday after officials could bring ballots and tally sheets to the nation's 120,000 polling places.

"Sticker shock" for Obama's pricey April SF fundraiser -- $35,800 PER PERSON? : SFGate: Politics Blog

Even loyal Obama supporters are raising their eyebrows at the very pricey fundraising -- like that exclusive $35,800-per-person dinner in San Francisco -- planned as part of the President's April 20 visit to the Bay Area.

The April Western U.S. swing by the President, which includes a stop in Reno and Los Angeles as well as San Francisco, is part of Obama's 2012 re-election kickoff campaign. But also scheduled is what the White House promises will be a jobs and economy event in the Bay Area on April 20.

Donald Trump's support surges in New Hampshire - NYPOST.com

Donald Trump's suddenly surging presidential chances got another boost Tuesday with the release of a poll that measured the business magnate as the second-most-popular choice for Republican primary voters in the crucial early voting state of New Hampshire.

Trump picked up the support of 21 percent of state primary voters, behind only 27 percent for Mitt Romney, the former governor of neighboring Massachusetts, according to the survey from Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling (PPP).

"He has more support than even we thought," PPP assistant director Dustin Ingalls said in an interview.
